Is Insurance a Scam? Need Advice on Handling Claim Issues

Hey People…

I’m looking for some advice for a friend who’s going through a rough patch. He and his wife, who are truck drivers, bought a brand-new 2024 RV travel trailer with all the bells and whistles. They parked it at an RV storage place while they were on the road, but three months later, they found out it had been stolen and nobody told them about it. Totally ruined their plans for Mother’s Day weekend—they were planning to hit the beach with their new trailer.

They filed a police report and an insurance claim right away, having paid for a full year of coverage. But the insurance company is dragging their feet, asking for all kinds of documents and proof they can’t provide, like live video footage. Now they’ve got attorneys from the insurance company asking for a recorded statement under oath. After months of trying, they haven’t been able to find any legal help locally or even in their state. What should they do next? Is this kind of hassle normal, or do you think they’re being taken advantage of?
Any tips or similar experiences would be super helpful!

Best wishes…

Insurance companies are usually overseen by government agencies. If you think you’ve been treated unfairly, you might be able to file a complaint with your state’s insurance department. :vulcan_salute:

Policyholders may argue about what is and isn’t covered because they don’t completely comprehend the terms and conditions of their coverage.

Insurance firms often engage in unethical business tactics, such putting off filing claims or putting up exorbitant expectations.
