Although my ten-year-old cat has been ill, no diagnosis has been made as of yet. I should definitely acquire insurance because I need to take him in for an ultrasound, but I’m not sure where to start or if it would even be covered.
Any ideas?

It actually depends on what is wrong with him. I would attempt to obtain insurance; a Google search would yield locations where you can compare plans. Without a doubt, I would research a few of the best ones. Pet’s Best, Fetch, ASPCA, Lemonade, etc. It would be great if you tried to cover him.
Pre-existing conditions are not covered by pet insurance, thus what is currently happening is not covered. even in the absence of a diagnosis.
Now, certain pet insurance WILL cover pre-existing conditions! It is little more expensive each month than normal, but it is well worth the money if your pet has diabetes, cushing’s syndrome, addison’s disease. I know certain insurance companies do provide these kinds of coverage because I work in a veterinary clinic.
Do you know the names of the businesses? I would love to be able to share with my friend who is in a similar scenario to the original poster.
I can think of only a few clients I see: Liberty Mutual, Chewy Offers, and Nationwide. Now, I would investigate, but I am aware that some of the clients I meet have dogs covered by that kind of pet insurance.
Oh, and if you ask, I think some employers will also add pet insurance to your health insurance. I am not sure how beneficial it would be, though, as I have not heard anything about it yet.
