I got a quote of 300 dollars from one company. That is almost the same as my monthly car lease. I am 23, turning 24 soon, and I live in New Jersey.
For others around my age and location, what are you paying for insurance?

I’m 23 and live in Orlando, Florida. My payment is $250 per month for a performance car. Try State Farm, every other company wanted over $1000 per month. It was ridiculous.

At 23 with a performance model, your insurance is bound to be high.
@Greer
My first car was a base model Yaris, and at 23, I paid $500 CAD monthly. The insurance company blamed the area I was living in.
@Greer
I checked quotes, and oddly enough, the cheapest option for me was the performance model. The long-range AWD was the most expensive.

Which insurance company are you using?
@Greer
State Farm.

What coverages are you paying for? I’m 25 near Orlando and paying $300 a month with Travelers.
@Zander
Full coverage, including uninsured motorist and mid-to-high limits for everything.
I’m 52 and live in New Jersey with four cars on my insurance, including my 23-year-old son and 19-year-old daughter. I pay about $5000 per year. Your rate is probably high because of your age. Shop around before committing.
I use Tesla Insurance for my wife and me, and it’s $114 per month for two cars. We have a 2023 Model 3 and a 2017 Honda Accord. Tesla tracks our safety score, and we drive between 15,000 and 20,000 miles annually. We’re in Texas.
@Merrick
Wow, Texas seems to have cheaper insurance. I’m paying $170 in Colorado for a 2021 Model 3 with a safety score of 97. Even improving it to 99 only drops it to $150.

Texas isn’t particularly cheap. Before switching to Tesla Insurance, I used GEICO, and they hiked my rate from $150 to $216 for the same coverage. Tesla Insurance started at $194 but went down over time as it updated with our driving. Now it’s around $113-$120, depending on the safety score and how much I drove the prior month.
I was paying $150-$160 monthly with Farmers Insurance, but it went up to $200 this year because of inflation. My plan is still decent, though.
I pay $160 monthly with USAA.

I pay $60 monthly with USAA. I’ve been with them for over 20 years and also bundle homeowners and another vehicle.

I also have multiple policies with them, but they still wanted $190 per month extra for my Model Y.
@JUNE
Interesting. I’m in Maine with a 2018 Model 3, so maybe location matters too.
What’s the deal with Tesla Insurance not being available in Florida?

Hurricanes and related issues probably delayed its rollout.
