Help with an accident from 5 years ago

Hey guys,

My car insurance premium has increased significantly due to an accident in 2019 now showing on my record. I’m wondering if there’s a way to reduce or remove the points, given it’s been almost 5 years and I’ve had a clean record since.

I live in Massachusetts, and the accident was deemed major (4 points) after I struck a pedestrian. Fortunately, the pedestrian wasn’t injured. Is there a way to address this, especially since I’ve had no other incidents or tickets?

You’re being charged for a year’s worth of surcharges that should have been applied at your next renewal. You’ve avoided these surcharges for years and saved thousands, but now you’re complaining.
