Got a new roof, how does my insurance company find out?

Mine got lowered 1.13%. Liberty Mutual, but I switched the next day for a better rate.

I have a bundle with Progressive for home and auto. They’ve been raising my rates, so I’m planning to switch too.

Tell them, and if they don’t lower your premium, shop around for a better deal.

I call and tell them. They always appreciate hearing good news.

I emailed photos and the invoice for the new roof. Got $30 off per year for the next 10 years. Not huge, but I’ll take it. Also, new roof means full coverage instead of depreciated coverage, so that’s a win.

Submit the documents through your insurance company’s portal and see what happens. Each insurance company is different. Some give big discounts; others just update your policy without much change.

That last sentence about your neighborhood having no crime for 40 years is a stretch.

@Chan
Maybe not a ‘documented’ crime. My quiet suburb had hidden stuff going on too, but people don’t always talk about it.

Tell them, and send in permit records if you have them.

Just call and tell them. They’re not automatically tracking permits for every customer!
