GA Adjuster License with a Misdemeanor Conviction—Will I Be Disqualified?

Good evening… :unamused:

I’m trying to get my adjuster license in Georgia and have a question about how my past might affect my application. When I was 19, I was charged with a felony, but it got reduced to a misdemeanor threat conviction. I’m now 23 and wondering if this will disqualify me from getting my license.
:grimacing:Has anyone been in a similar situation or know how the licensing process deals with past convictions?
Your assistance is welcome…

Any misdemeanor offenses must be declared on your application :unamused:. Providing certified copies of the court records pertaining to your conviction is part of this.

The Georgia Office of Insurance and Safety Fire Commissioner will examine your application, taking into account the type of offense, the date of the incident, and whether or not it casts doubt on your reliability and ability to serve as an adjuster.

 The Commissioner may choose to grant, deny, suspend, or cancel your license based on the particulars of your case.

For advice relevant to your circumstances, :unamused: it’s a good idea to speak with a legal expert or get in touch with the Georgia Office of Insurance and Safety Fire Commissioner directly.

:cowboy_hat_face:Although it might make the process more difficult, a misdemeanor conviction does not automatically preclude you from applying for a Georgia Adjuster License.
