[FL] Can someone open a Life Insurance Policy on you without your permission?

My mother in law wants to take out a million dollar life insurance policy on her son, my husband. She’s being secretive about it, instructing him to keep it hidden from me, his wife, and insists she wants to be ‘financially secure’ when he passes away.

My husband is in excellent health and is not expected to have any life-threatening issues for the next 40+ years.

My question is whether she can legally take out such a large life insurance policy on him without his consent. He’s adamant that he won’t agree to any policy where she’s the primary beneficiary because we plan to get our own policies when we start a family (though she does know his Social Security number as his mother).

Is there anything we can do about this? We reside in Florida.

check this out,If you suspect unauthorized attempts to obtain a policy in your name, you can reach out to credit reporting agencies to place a fraud alert on your record. This action will increase the difficulty of opening new accounts under your identity.

Yes, that is normally acceptable (though approval is usually required) as long as she has an insurable interest in his life (often close family members). You can acquire your own insurance, too.
