Hey fellow Floridians! Just got off the phone with USAA and looks like my regional rates update is pushing me towards a whopping 30% increase at renewal, despite no claims, accidents, or tickets. Anyone else experiencing this? It might be time to start shopping around for better deals. Cheers!
It’s not just USAA that is raising their rates in FL. Be careful of switching to a smaller company as they may declare bankruptcy if there is a disaster.

This comment is insightful, thanks for the heads up!
Some companies are leaving FL. Figured USAA was on that list.

There are too many active duty military in Florida to justify pulling out. BUT USAA can limit exposure by only insuring those members and telling everyone else they can’t cover them.
Mine just renewed and went down. Like $20 a month.

This is good news! Seems like it varies a lot depending on the provider.
We just left USAA for Allstate from $850 a month to $600. They were great years ago and even loved getting the few hundred dollar check every year back but that’s been years now too. Anyway good luck and yeah definitely look around. USAA did leave homeowners in South Florida but you can get them in northern FL.
@Mica
Thanks for sharing your experience! It’s helpful to hear about alternatives.
Meanwhile my progressive policy just went down $200.

That’s a significant drop! Progressive seems to be making some moves in FL.
Both GEICO and Progressive recently lowered their base rates for auto in Florida. Worth looking at them both!

Thanks for the tip! Checking out all options seems like the way to go.
USAA hasn’t implemented a rate increase in Florida since July 2023. There has to be another reason why your rates changed. I would try calling again.

That’s strange. Maybe there are specific circumstances affecting individual policies.
