Does dental insurance cover Invisalign? Anyone know?

I’m considering Invisalign to fix my teeth, but I’m wondering if dental insurance can help with the cost. Has anyone here gotten it covered, or know if it’s possible?

From what I’ve seen, most dental insurance plans only cover Invisalign for kids under 18. For adults, it’s pretty rare. Definitely check your policy though.

That’s what I heard too. Some plans will cover braces but not Invisalign for adults.

I looked into it and ended up paying out of pocket for Invisalign. My insurance didn’t cover orthodontics at all.

Ouch! Was it super expensive?

Yeah, it was about $5,000, but that can vary depending on how long you need the treatment.

It can range from $1,200 to $8,000 depending on how complex the treatment is. I had a friend who paid less because their teeth didn’t need much work.

Just keep in mind, some dentists charge more if they’re really experienced or if you live in a big city. It adds up!

Good point. I live in a smaller town, and my orthodontist charged a bit less than what I’d heard people in the city were paying.

I’d recommend calling your insurance provider directly. I didn’t think I’d get any coverage, but they actually helped with some of the costs for my kid’s braces.

That’s a good idea! It never hurts to ask and see what they can offer, even if it’s not much.
