Car Insurance Cancellation – Is This Fair?

Good evening…

I recently took out a car insurance policy and gave my details online. At the time, I was employed, but the policy required me to call and confirm my details within 7 days. Since then, I lost my job and told them I was unemployed.
Now they’re saying they have to cancel my policy because of my job change and slapped me with a £75 cancellation fee. They also want their telematics box back, but I’m holding off on sending it until they cover the £75 for postage and admin fees.
This whole thing seems ridiculous to me. People lose their jobs all the time, and it feels unfair to have insurance cancelled just for updating them on my situation. Is this normal, or am I overreacting?
Would love to hear your thoughts or if anyone has been through something similar.
Regards…

Cancellation of auto :relieved: insurance might feel unjust, particularly if it occurs suddenly. On the other hand, when and how an insurance company can terminate your coverage is governed by particular rules and regulations.

dishonest behaviorConsiderable rise in danger, such as numerous collisions or moving infractions

Insurance companies are required by law in the majority of states to give notice before terminating a policy. :worried:Depending on the state, this notice time may be anything from 10 to 75 days.

To prevent a lapse in coverage, which may result in future premium increases, make sure you have another insurance in place.

Try to settle the dispute with your insurance provider directly.
