Does anyone know if VPP can cover high-end purses? Some purses these days can go over $2,000, and some even over $10,000. I noticed that VPP covers things like furs, sports equipment, cameras, and firearms. Even jewelry has a max of $2,500 for collections.
So, will USAA cover something like my wife’s pricey Chanel purse if it’s stolen or lost?
You used to be able to insure designer bags under VPP. My ex-wife had a bunch of high-end bags, and we had them covered under a USAA VPP policy. We just had to show receipts and appraisals. Each bag was covered for its specific value. The $2,500 jewelry limit is just the basic limit, but you can get more coverage if you submit appraisals to set the premium.

Just checked. As someone who works with VPP policies at USAA, I can confirm that purses are not covered under VPP. They might fall under personal property if you have a home or renter’s policy.

Got it, thanks for the update! That was a while back.
Not true. You can add items to a VPP policy if you have the right value documented. I have several designer bags on a policy. Same for watches and jewelry, but not with USAA anymore. They refused to cover a missing stone in my wedding ring.
Well, I’m a woman and I worked there for 16 years. If they changed it, it happened after I left recently. Dealing with rude comments like this is why people push back nowadays.

USAA hasn’t insured purses through VPPs for at least the last two years. Also, people in customer service are technically licensed agents. Did you work in another area? Making these claims without experience in insurance is risky.
