shopping around for home insurance in florida. i’ve heard travelers and people’s trust have good rates, but i’m also worried about hurricane coverage. anyone have experience with these or any other recommendations?
i’ve used people’s trust for a few years now. they have reasonable rates, especially for newer homes. just make sure to check their windstorm deductible.

how’s their customer service been for you? i’ve heard mixed things.

customer service has been decent, though it does depend on the agent you get. they’re helpful with questions, but response time varies.
if you’re bundling auto and home, travelers is good for florida. they offer a nice discount, but be sure to double-check hurricane and flood coverage limits.

agree! saved a decent amount by bundling my car and home insurance with them.

just a heads-up, travelers can be a bit selective in florida, so make sure you’re eligible.
i went with citizens property insurance because it’s the only one that would cover me after a few private companies left the state. it’s more expensive, but i felt safer having coverage.

oh, that’s good to know. thanks! are the premiums really as high as people say?

yeah, premiums are higher, but it’s worth it if you’re having trouble finding coverage.
chubb is a good choice if you have a high-value home. they specialize in covering valuable homes and items like art or jewelry. they’re a bit pricey but worth it for the right coverage.

yeah, they do. they’ll cover structural repairs, and if you need specific hurricane or windstorm protection, they’re reliable.
if you’re worried about flood damage, remember that home insurance usually doesn’t cover floods. fema’s national flood insurance program or private flood insurance are your best bets.

good point! i had to get a separate flood policy, and it covers up to $250,000 for the house structure.
