Anyone using USAA SafePilot with Apple Pay? Issues registering drives?

I have USAA SafePilot, but it’s not tracking my drives. If I plug my phone into the USB to use Apple Pay, it doesn’t seem to register my trips. Does anyone else have this issue or know how to fix it? I’m a safe driver and would love to keep getting that 30% discount!

Keep in mind that the discount is ‘up to’ 30%, and it’s not guaranteed. It can also depend on how much you drive. I’m not sure why you’re using Apple Pay in relation to SafePilot, though. Could you explain that part? Also, if your phone is saving battery, that could mess with the app. It’s happened to me and my husband before.

@Yani
I’ve been getting the 30% discount since it was introduced, and it hasn’t really changed. When I plug my phone into the car, it’s to charge it and use Apple Play for music, etc.

I’ve noticed that my app doesn’t register every drive either. It might not have anything to do with CarPlay or USB; sometimes it just doesn’t pick up random trips.

SafePilot is just a trick to raise rates. I wouldn’t trust it.

I agree, it’s just another way for them to track you. The app isn’t great, either. I use Apple Play to talk and text, and it doesn’t interfere with my driving at all since it’s all voice activated.

Can you back up your claim with any evidence? I’ve actually been getting a good discount since using SafePilot, and my rates haven’t gone up.

Really? How have you managed that?

Basically, they want everyone to adopt the app so they can track your driving. Then, they hike everyone else’s rates by 30%, and yours stays the same, making it seem like you got a 30% discount. Eventually, they use all that data to deny claims and save even more money.

Make sure you have background app refresh on and that you’re not using low battery mode. If it’s still not working, try deleting and reinstalling the app. If it’s still a problem, an agent can help troubleshoot. When you call, ask for an umbrella agent. They’re the best at fixing issues.

I’ve noticed my shorter drives don’t show up as ‘drives’ on wireless CarPlay. Since I’m a low mileage driver, I just go into the app and mark them manually.

Are you talking about CarPlay? I don’t understand why Apple Pay would have anything to do with this.

Why does the USB need to be plugged in for Apple Pay?
