Anyone have experience with Safeco Auto Insurance?

I’m shopping around for car insurance, and Safeco came up as an option through Credit Karma. I haven’t really heard of them before, so I’m curious if anyone else has experience with them. Are they reliable? The quotes they’re offering look pretty good, almost too good to be true.

I just want to make sure I’m choosing a dependable option and not getting roped into something sketchy. If anyone has insights—good or bad—I’d appreciate hearing them!

They’re a solid and well-known company. If you’re unfamiliar with them, you might want to talk to an independent agent to help explain coverage options and find the best fit for you.

Totally agree! Safeco is solid, but talking to an agent can be super helpful.

They’ve caused me some major headaches. Not impressed with their customer service.

That sounds frustrating. Hopefully, they improve.

Easy there, not everyone has a great experience with them.

Fair enough, just sharing my thoughts.

Had a hit-and-run claim that took them months to resolve. I wouldn’t use them again.

They’re actually part of Liberty Mutual and work through independent agents. Make sure all your info is accurate on the application, as quotes can change if anything’s off.

As an agent, I can tell you that sometimes unexpected fees come up. Also, if you’re prone to needing tows, Safeco can be strict on claims for those.

Know any good agents in Ohio?

Just search ‘independent insurance agency’ with your zip code. Should help!

My agent asked me to Zelle her the first payment… is that normal?

I’ve found Safeco to be reliable overall.

They’re a solid company. Just make sure to go over coverage details with an agent so you’re fully protected. Cheap isn’t always best when it comes to insurance!

Safeco was based in Seattle and was bought by Liberty Mutual. It’s now just one of Liberty’s brands.

Not happy with them. Had one accident, and they canceled our policy after years of being with them. Seems harsh for one incident.

They’re under Liberty Mutual. I liked their customer service, but I ended up switching to save about 40%. If it had been less than that, I would have stayed.

Can you share who you switched to?

I’d steer clear.
