Anyone have a way to contact USAA's senior management or board directly? ... Can we actually make a difference?

I’m really upset with how out of touch USAA’s leadership seems to be with the core mission and the needs of its service members. I feel like putting something directly on their desks, maybe in the form of a letter, could have more impact than posting about it here. Especially now, as they’re looking to choose a new CEO. I just don’t want another leader like Peacock. Does anyone have a reliable way to get in touch with board members or senior management? Any tips or advice would be appreciated.

Just so you know, all letters sent to board members are forwarded to the Office of the CEO for handling complaints. They don’t get directly to the board.

Honestly, they don’t care. Unless you can rally millions of members behind you, a few complaints won’t make a difference.

Totally agree. A lot of people don’t understand that when you get into the C-suite and boards, everyone just surrounds themselves with yes-men. When one bad apple gets in there, it’s like a disease for the company. Hard to shake that off.

Most likely, the new exec team will praise Peacock for the marketing and efficiency measures he implemented, just because it looks good on paper with their MBA credentials. They’ll probably try to find someone who can just take his work and push it even further.

Complaints do get reviewed, but like you said, nothing really changes. There are employees who go through the complaints, but in the end, not much is done.

Honestly, no one’s going to care. But you can try writing a letter addressed directly to Wayne at the corporate address. It might get read, but don’t expect much.

Just a heads up, Wayne is actually on the board himself, so he would be getting those letters too.

You can’t just send a letter to the board unless you’re invited to a board meeting, which is pretty rare. Any complaints you send will go to a team who may follow up, but it’s not likely anything will change. Even if they get a lot of complaints, it really depends on whether it’s a policy issue they’re willing to change. And honestly, that’s probably not going to happen.

TLDR: it’s probably a waste of time, just like with most big corporations.

Anyone know a good way to get in touch with the board?

It takes more work, but if you’re serious, you could try to find personal contact info for the board members outside of USAA. Avoid going through the USAA staff. For example, Admiral Zortman (Chairman of the Board) is likely reachable at james.zortman@bcg.com.

Keep your messages short and clear. Have a clear ask. Just saying ‘fire Peacock’ or something similar won’t work. If you’re just expressing disappointment in leadership, ask for something more specific like ‘how do we improve things going forward?’

The issue is, even though Wayne was a great candidate with 30+ years of experience with USAA, he still led the company into problems. This suggests the board was pressuring him, so they could be part of the problem too.

Honestly, it’s a waste of time. No one cares.

These bots are getting pretty advanced, huh?
