Has anyone here managed to get their health insurance to cover vision therapy? If so, what steps did the eye center take, and how did the insurance company respond? I’m just curious if it’s possible.
Honestly, the best thing to do is call your insurance company and ask them directly. Every insurance provider and eye center can handle things differently, so you may not find a one-size-fits-all answer here.
If you haven’t found a provider yet, try asking your insurance for a list of vision therapists they work with. If none are available in your area, you may need to request an out-of-network exception, but be prepared for them to say no.

Thanks for the advice! The billing office at the provider is going to send a pre-determination letter to my insurance. The American Optometrist Association says these therapies should be covered in most cases, so I guess we’ll see how it goes.
No luck for me, unfortunately. Insurance didn’t cover it.
