i’m considering my options for health insurance in new york, and saw that highmark blue cross blue shield is recommended. does anyone here use it? also curious if anyone has feedback on metroplus in nyc or fidelis care for other parts of the state.
i use highmark and it’s been solid for me. the silver plan costs around $641 per month. the customer service is reliable, and they have a large network since it’s blue cross blue shield.

thanks, that sounds like a good option. i’ll need something with a large network.
metroplus is the cheapest in nyc. i’m paying about $805 per month on a silver plan. it’s pretty basic coverage but gets the job done for standard checkups and prescriptions.

is it difficult to get appointments with metroplus? i’ve heard mixed things about wait times.
fidelis care is affordable outside of nyc. i have the silver plan, and it’s around $513 monthly. so far, no issues, but i do keep my medical visits limited to keep costs down.

good to know. i might go with fidelis since i live in albany and don’t need to travel too much.
if you’re on a tight budget, definitely look into the essential plan. it’s free for those who qualify. it covers basic health needs, but you’ll need to check your income to see if you’re eligible.

thanks for the tip on the essential plan. seems like a good option if i can qualify.
for those who don’t mind higher out-of-pocket costs, bronze plans are a decent option to keep the monthly rates lower. but keep in mind you’ll be paying more if you need a lot of care.

i’m healthy overall, so i might go for bronze. thanks for the reminder about the trade-off, though.
