Accident History Question on auto quote

I’m asking this for my dad. He’s been getting auto insurance quotes, and they all ask if he’s had any accidents in the last few years. Two years ago, my sister had an accident and a claim was filed under his policy since he’s the policy owner. But my sister is no longer on our policy and won’t be on the new one. My dad hasn’t had any accidents himself.

So, can he answer No when asked if he’s had any accidents? And if it asks if he’s made a claim, should he answer Yes since he was the policy owner?

In one of the quote tools, he selected No, but then it asked him about “his” accident, which was actually my sister’s. We’re confused on how to handle this.

Thanks for any help!

Accidents usually follow the driver, but since he insured the car and it’s under his address, the accident might still show up. He’ll probably need to explain that she’s no longer a household member. Make sure he reads the questions carefully and answers truthfully.

He might need to call the insurance company and explain the situation directly. Usually, it’s cleared up after that.
